Micro.blog and Bluesky

Micro.blog has several features to integrate with Bluesky. You can primarily post to your blog on Micro.blog, to have more control over your content, but stay engaged with followers on Bluesky.

Automatically copy blog posts to Bluesky

Micro.blog’s automatic cross-posting makes it simple to copy posts from your blog to Bluesky. Just set it and forget about it. Micro.blog will cross-post whenever you post to your blog, copying photos and handling truncation if necessary for the different post size limits.

To enable cross-posting, click Sources → Add Bluesky.

You can disable cross-posting on a per-post basis whenever you want. For posts that you don’t want to automatically copy, there’s a manual cross-post option on the Posts page.

Use your domain name with Bluesky

With your blog hosted on Micro.blog, the domain name or subdomain used on Micro.blog is ready to also be your Bluesky handle.

To set it up, go to your Bluesky account settings → Change Handle → “I have my own domain”. Enter your blog’s domain name and also select “No DNS Panel”.

Replies from Bluesky

Micro.blog will routinely check for any replies to your account on Bluesky, if cross-posting is enabled. When Micro.blog finds a reply from a Bluesky user, it copies that reply directly into your Micro.blog timeline.

From the timeline or Mentions section, you can reply back to any Bluesky mention and the reply will also be copied back to Bluesky. It makes for a seamless, round-trip experience between both platforms.

Linking to Bluesky cross-posts

Micro.blog stores a reference to the cross-posted copy of your posts so that you can access that information in your Micro.blog theme. For example, you could have a Bluesky icon or “See also on Bluesky” link next to your blog posts. For more information on using this info in your themes, see this help page about Hugo cross-posting parameters.

Following Bluesky users

You can follow Bluesky users by searching for their handle in Discover. For example, search for someone.bsky.social to find their profile.

Note that when using custom domain names as handles in Bluesky, Micro.blog will try to follow their blog instead of their Bluesky account. We are working on improving this.
