Whys and wherefores of Twitter image selection

I frequently post larger sets of photos (8-12) using Sunlit, with crossposting to Twitter. Of each set, something picks four images to go in the Twitter post. I guess I have two questions:

  1. Which ones are picked by what, and is there any way to influence that?
  2. Any way to get a link back to the original post in the tweet?

I think it just picks the first 4 images, because Twitter is limited to 4 images per tweet. That’s a good point about linking back, though… If we can’t send all the images to Twitter, we should consider that a “truncated” post and add a link.
