When should builds trigger?

Hi folks,

I’m having an issue with builds on micro blog. I tend to write posts on my main site, which are then pulled into Micro via RSS. That part is working great, but when a post is pulled in, I assume it’s supposed to trigger a build so that the new post is pushed to various places, like my Micro timeline, my Hugo site, wherever I cross-post etc. however that’s not happening.

Instead the new post just sits in my list of posts until I go to micro blog logs and force a build. Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks,

Kev

It’s supposed to trigger a build as soon as it copies the new post from the RSS feed. There is a delay when polling for new RSS feeds, but after that happens it should publish normally as if it’s a regular blog post.

Next time this happens, do you mind clicking Account → “View logs” and see if there are any messages about publishing?

Will do. I’ll report back here next time.

I wrote a post this morning and it seems to have built and published correctly. Maybe I’m just being impatient. I’ll keep an eye on it and will let you know if the problem continues (let’s be honest though, the problem is likely to be me!)

Thanks for the update. It’s probably not you… One thing that might be happening is in rare cases if there are a couple changes, Micro.blog’s publishing tasks can overlap and get a little confused. In that case you should see a message in the log like “already queued, trying again 20 seconds” or something like that. This is something I’m sure we can still improve.
