What does "get Bluesky replies" mean?

I’m a bit confused about the cross-posting settings. There are two options:

  • Copy your posts to Bluesky and get Bluesky replies
  • Only copy your posts to Bluesky

I assumed “Copy your posts to Bluesky and get Bluesky replies” would

  1. pull replies to my cross-posted content into micro.blog (:white_check_mark: this happens)
  2. show those replies in the comments area of my blog post (:x: this doesn’t)

A third thing is happening that I didn’t expect:
3. micro.blog is pulling every reply I’ve ever written on Bluesky on the “replies” section of my micro.blog profile :exploding_head:

Is this the intended behavior or am I missing something? Is there a way to get 1 or 2 to happen without 3?

Here’s an example that’s extra confusing, because I’m replying to someone else’s reply to my cross-post, but the reply only references my account and the conversation is empty:

Now that I look more closely, the conversations are also empty on replies to the cross-post itself: @streicher great work!

Re 2: on micro.blog in the “Design” section, there’s a checkbox named “Include conversation on post page”, check if you have that on (I think it’s off by default). I was also confused why the Bluesky replies weren’t showing up there, until I found this setting.

Re 3: I would like to know that myself too, because this seems very confusing to me too

Update on #2: I did have that checkbox checked but I had only cross-posted manually (using this button at the bottom of the post on the Posts page):

I hadn’t set up automatic cross-posting yet. Replies do seem to be loading in correctly for automatically cross-posted posts.

Interesting, I think I tested this and those posted using that “cross-post” button later were also getting their replies synced there…

Well then I’m just confused.
