Some mastodon accounts I follow show the pictures included in the post. Many don’t. What decides?
Related: Bluesky accounts I follow will say something like “this post includes quoted content” or something like that, at least letting me know that in some situations I should click through to see the real post as intended.
How can we consistently either show:
the full content
if 1 is not possible, a marker that tells me something is missing, and I should click through for the full post
Do you have an example of a Mastodon post (link in Micro.blog ideally) that isn’t showing the photo? I expect it’s something with the truncation rules in Micro.blog for longer posts.
For Bluesky, that “this post includes quoted content” is actually set by Bluesky and is a limitation in their RSS feeds that we use to follow accounts. We don’t currently have control over that, but I hope Bluesky can improve this.
I’m actually saying Bluesky’s implementation is better than micro.blog current state, because it at least warns about (some of the) gaps. Micro.blog currently “fails quietly” on this, hence my ask for #2.
Let me post some Mastodon & Threads posts that are lacking the “attachments” as they come up.
