Is there any way to start editing the text that goes at the top of an upcoming newsletter before the last hours before the newsletter goes out? I’d like to start drafting that text during the month, rather than having to enter it in the small window between when the newsletter draft gets created and when it gets sent.
Not and have it be custom each time. I’d recommend setting a larger window between the draft and the actual one going out.
I have done that. Before I wasn’t getting the alert until I took the dog on her walk, and then the newsletter went out before I got back. I’ve set it to the maximum (3 hours, I think), and that’s probably long enough that I’ll only rarely miss the window.
But really I’d like to be able to start drafting the text as soon as the previous newsletter goes out, and continue editing it right up until this one goes out.
Good suggestion. It’s not possible right now because Micro.blog doesn’t create the newsletter “draft” until the time arrives, so there isn’t a place to put the in-progress intro. Will think about how best to add this.
Maybe you could modify the newsletter build logic to look for a specifically named note in the user notebook. If one is found, import the note as the draft. Continue to allow editing during the window to allow for last minute updates/typos/etc.
I was thinking of an unposted draft post with a specific tag, although I’ll admit that’s getting awfully special-case-y.
But I’d really like to have something set to go, for those days when I’m not near my computer for the first few hours of the first day of the month.
I don’t think there’s a good way to build this feature off of a post, based on how I understand how this works. I think it’d probably have to be built in as a platform feature with a new-ish entity.
A manual button to add additional posts to the newsletter build could solve this. Draft it beforehand, publish during the newsletter window, edit the newsletter to add the post into the mix.
