I use Mastodon as my Fedi identity with which I follow and reply to people. I have cross-posting enabled to syndicate my blog posts to my Mastodon as well as Bluesky profiles, but only Bluesky replies I make with my Bluesky account are brought back to Micro.blog. My Mastodon replies stay on Mastodon, though.
This is how the sources page is configured:
Is this the expected behavior or should the replies I make on Mastodon appear on my /replies page?
Expected behavior. That functionality is unique to what ATProtocol on Bluesky enables right now.
And if I reply using my Micro.blog account to a Bluesky post, the reply gets copied to Bluesky? Or does this only take place when I reply to a mention from a Bluesky user under one of my posts on Micro.blog?
And for Mastodon: what’s the best way to only import new additions to my account (including replies) to Micro.blog without duplicating what’s already on both? The RSS feed of a Mastodon account only surfaces posts and no replies, but if I’m already cross-posting, I get duplicate posts only.
If you reply to BlueSky, they’ll see it on BlueSky as a BlueSky post.
I have no idea on the Mastodon question, I don’t think it’s a good idea to try and both cross post to mastodon and pull in from mastodon. I’m quite certain that’s a recipe for duplicates.
It’s great that the Bluesky support is solid when it comes to replies. About Mastodon, I wish there was a way to open a random fedi link on Micro.blog for interaction! If this were there, I wouldn’t be juggling Mastodon next to MB and worrying about replies making their way to the other side. @manton is implementing such a feature in the cards?
