Propagation of subdomain takes a long time

I had my new subdomain blog.frankmeeuwsen.com/ already in my DNS for a few days and pointed it to frank.micro.blog. as mentioned in the documentation. But when I wanted to change the domain in my blog settings today I got a warning that said I shouldn’t point to the URL but to the IP address. So I first put in the European IP address, but this took over an hour to propagate and it still didn’t work. I then changed it to the US address, maybe it would load faster. It didn’t. It still points to the US address (104.200.22.214.) but propagation is still all over the place. Even after 4+ hours. The TTL has been on 1 minute since the last 3 hours at least. Is there something I can do besides wait? My blog is offline now. Even frank.micro.blog doesn’t work…

Well what do you know… I decided after posting to just change the CNAME again to the original frank.micro.blog And it all works. It is a bit confusing though with the warning on the Blog settings page.

I don’t know exactly what went wrong here, but when you used the EU IP address, did you also check the Use servers in Europe for hosted web pages, photos, and uploads checkbox on the Blog Settings page? If not, that’s probably why it didn’t work.

Glad to hear it’s working now at least.
