Crossposting via my rss has been erroring out then working then not. Latest, new error: unsupported media type. Both feeds validate and work with no issues in various RSS apps.
As a work around to share my post here I tried making a post to hosted blog/ timeline for the first time in months and it’s not showing up. Worth noting, not only is it not showing up on timeline but first attempt to publish just seemed to stall. Tried again. Nothing. Some time later it finally finished but never showed up on timeline.
At this point I have no idea why I’m bothering. Just affirms my decision to move my site back to my original host.
Sorry you’re having a frustrating experience. Without URLs, I’m not sure how someone is supposed to chime in and assist and see if they notice anything that could help.
I checked your feed and Micro.blog is getting a “415 Unsupported Media Type” HTTP response from your server. The feed downloads fine from other places, so I suspect there is something on your hosting provider that doesn’t like Micro.blog. Probably security software that thinks downloading the RSS feed over and over is suspicious. Getting an HTTP 415 doesn’t really make any sense, and I’ve never seen this before, but that’s all I can think of.
Is there anything you can configure like letting your server know it’s safe to trust the Micro.blog servers? It’s probably checking IP address because I see the same thing from curl from our servers:
$ curl "https://beardystarstuff.net/rss.xml"
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>415 Unsupported Media Type</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Unsupported Media Type</h1>
<p>The supplied request data is not in a format
acceptable for processing by this resource.</p>
</body></html>
Thanks. You’d mentioned this in my previous post a week or two ago. They white listed the micro.blog ip addresses you gave me:
198.58.124.204
96.126.116.47
Adding 198.58.124.204 to csf.allow and iptables ACCEPT…
Adding 96.126.116.47 to csf.allow and iptables ACCEPT…
There’s nothing else I’ve been able to find that can be configured. Several recent posts had been picked up for a few days and then it stopped again. Unsure how to proceed I had decided that for the moment I would just manually post to my blog anything I wanted to share but then that also didn’t work after several tries which led to my frustrated post above.
To be honest I have no idea if anyone sees anything I post here anyway and I’ve shifted most of my time to Mastodon so I’m floating in a sort of in-between state of still sorta caring but sorta not.
