I have a bunch of old photos I’d like to post, back-dated to the date I originally took the photo. Assuming this is possible, what’s the best way to do this?
I’ve tried posting a couple of the old photos, and then changing the date of the post, but now they are showing up multiple times on my Photos page, which is not what I expected to happen.
I’m new to micro.blog, so if I’m completely misunderstanding how to use this product, feel free to let me know.
Following up on this: It looks like the photos that were showing up multiple times on my Photos page eventually disappeared and the extra posts got cleaned up too. The clean-up just took a lot longer than I expected.
(My mental model for blog tools is from the Movable Type days, where as soon as you saved a change, everything got rebuilt immediately.)
Micro.blog does a fair bit of caching versus a full rebuild each time. It will eventually execute a full rebuild, but especially for category pages and photo pages, that’s not done instantly. You can execute a full rebuild manually at the top of this page, which may be worth doing under some circumstances.
What appears on the photo page can be controlled by the theme, plug-ins, or by you, if you’re comfortable with a little HTML and code tweaking, using a custom theme.
I’m not 100% sure, but I think the plug-in called Photos and Screenshots might make .webp files show up on the Photos page.
