Photoblog brainstorming help

I know this is intended more for tech issues and questions, but I’m a bit stuck in my head and thought this community might have some ideas.

I’ve been taking photography (well, iPhoneography) more seriously and have been wanting to create a sort of portfolio and photoblog. I don’t want to pay for a platform like Glass. I figured I’d do something on Pixelfed, but then I remembered that I can create multiple blogs on here and I’m like

I’m tossing the idea of getting a domain name, but in reality I can’t afford to take on more expenses right now.

So I guess I’m asking you to help me figure the pros and cons of starting a new photoblog here or on Pixelfed, or if there’s some magical, perfect third option I haven’t considered.

I’m also not sure what my long term goal is for this. I think it’s just having a place to park my best & favorite photos and be able to share them with people without them being directly entwined with the rest of my blog posts and writing. I have daydreams about having a photo of mine hanging on a coffee shop wall, and being all like, “Oh you can check out my portfolio at blah blah site.”

(Featuring favorite long form posts and essays is a whole other topic for me to explore at some point…)

Thanks, guys.

A photoblog on here with the ActivityPub stuff turned on is basically the same from a pixelfed user standpoint except you won’t see likes or reposts, just comments. I think photo-portfolio style blogs are really nice and a good use for blogs. If this is about posting somewhere you like to go and look at things and direct people to, seems like a great use. But if it’s more about sharing socially and building an audience, it’d probably be easier on a “platform”.

This is helpful, thank you. Decisions like this always paralyze me for some reason. I have like three follow don’t know why it seems so big in my head lol

But thanks for responding. :camera_with_flash:
