I noticed a while ago that when I scroll through my uploads, media starts not displaying after a while of scrolling.
I exported my blog using the MacOS app. And I notice in the folders, there’s no media content in folders for 2021, 2022, 2023. But there’s content beginning in 2024. I am wondering if my changed screnname (undamnedone to wired differently) has something to do with it?
I’m interested in what might be the very tedious task of parsing through old posts to remove overtly political stuff - I want to separate that persona from this one for work-related privacy reasons.
Anyone know what’s going on with the old media?
Anyone have any recommendations on how I might de-politicalfy my old content faster and more easily than going post by post? Is there a way to export, like, a csv or something that I could have Claude.ai analyze? Or other ideas?
You can export all of your posts by clicking on the three dots next to your blog name and choosing any of the export options. I like the markdown one, then you’ve got lots of markdown text locally.
It might be easier to do with MarsEdit and it’s built in search, or possibly using a category filter on certain words and phrases to autocategorize posts first, then use categories to delete.
Old media could be name change or CDN wonkiness. I’d email Manton about that.
Definitely send an email about this if you haven’t yet. This sounds like a problem with URLs changing, as you guessed. Sometimes we have to manually kick it to make sure all older URLs are also updated. I don’t think any of the photos were actually lost.
@jsonbecker I hadn’t used MarsEdit in a long time. I re-downloaded it and I think you’re definitely right! I was able to even mass delete some accidental TV show ‘check-in’ posts from a long time ago. Thanks for reminding me about it.
@manton Thanks for your help on this. Something weird is still afoot. In MarsEdit, I went back in time an picked a random, old post. The photo that was supposed to be there wasn’t there. When I clicked view on web, the page it took me to was a page with my old theme applied and my old username/url intact.
I also just noticed that ‘undamnedone’ (which I thought I’d changed successfully to wired differently) is still an option in the micro.blog Mac app.
Is there something I should do on my end? Also does this belong in a new thread?
Hello, hope you’re well. Just wanted to bump this up - it’s still doing this weird thing. This is the second post I ever made, and when I preview it from Marsedit, it takes me to an active url using my prior username and not wireddifferently.
Ah, I see the issue. There were still some older blog posts that were referencing the old name in Micro.blog. I’m updating your blog and if you refresh in MarsEdit, it should be good.
