Newbie Questions Re. Posting with Media

Hi all, some newbie questions:

  • Whilst I can add a photo to a post, when I try to add a PDF it is uploaded but not visible in the post. I can see the PDF in uploads though.
  • I believe it should be possible to move a post from published to draft but can’t see a way to do that. I can see how to initially set a new post as a draft though.
  • In the uploads section is it possible to see which files are in use and those which are not. I have noticed some are in bold which seemed to match the in use ones. However when I delete a post with an image in it, that image is still named in bold.
  • In uploads there is no preview of pdfs and also the filenames are not shown unless each individual one is selected. Is there a way to identify a specific pdf from the initial view.

TIA

Thanks for the comments. Those are a few areas where uploads can be improved.

For PDFs and other files that aren’t images, the best workflow is usually to upload it separately in the Uploads pane, then click on it and choose “Copy HTML” and paste it into a new or edited post.

For un-publishing a post back to a draft, unfortunately there’s no way. You’ll have to copy the contents of the post, delete the post, then start a new post and paste in the old text.

In the Uploads page on the web, if Micro.blog knows that a file is referenced in a post, it links the date/time to that post. There’s not really a way to quickly see which posts are not referenced by any post, but there should be.

It’s a great point about PDF preview. We should add a thumbnail preview of the image and show the filename there. I’ll work on that.
