Native Mac App not saving drafts automatically

This is a bug report for the Micro.blog macOS app, please let me know if this is not the right place to report it.

Summary

The Micro.blog app on macOS does not save drafts automatically. This results in data loss if Micro.blog crashes, if the Mac reboots unexpectedly (e.g. occasionally when unplugging laptop from dock), if the Mac automatically signs me out (e.g. after timeout on shared school/university/library machines) or if another user logs me out (e.g. in a family setting).

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a new post
  2. Type some text
  3. Force quit Micro.blog
  4. Relaunch App

Expected behaviour

The draft will reopen with all the text still present, as happens with TextEdit, Pages and Mail. This also works with third party apps and web apps such as code I’ve written in Atom, messages I’ve started writing in Signal, emails I’m drafting in Gmail and topics I’ve started writing in Discourse.

Actual behaviour

My draft post is lost unless I periodically remember to save (which I almost never do anymore, more or less since OS X Lion introduced Autosave in 2011).

Adding this feature would be a significant improvement for long-form blogging.

Yeah, this is a bug… It used to work, and I think it got lost when we added File → Save to save drafts on Micro.blog instead of locally. I’ll work on getting it fixed (won’t make it for this week’s Mac release).

Wow! It’s already fixed in 2.5.1!!! Love your work Manton!
