At the beginning of 2025 we launched a new subscription called Micro.one. Micro.one is a special version of Micro.blog with many of the core features of Micro.blog, but of course there are some differences.
Micro.one also has a new limitation: it is only available to the first 3000 people who sign up. Because it is available for a $1 subscription, there is no trial period.
Some of the differences between Micro.one and Micro.blog:
- The automatic cross-posting features that connect Micro.blog to Threads, Bluesky, and other services are not available in Micro.one. In Micro.one, you won’t find the “Sources” page that lets you configure external RSS feeds and cross-posting.
- The manual cross-posting button is also not available in Micro.one. In Micro.one, you won’t find the “Cross-post…” popup menu button that’s usually on the Posts page.
- Custom themes and Hugo template editing are not available in Micro.one. You can install plug-ins from the Plug-in directory to change your blog’s design.
- Private notes are not available in Micro.one.
- Bookshelves are not included in the sidebar in Micro.one. However, book-related features are available via the Epilogue app even for Micro.one accounts.
Frequently asked questions:
Is Micro.one available to existing Micro.blog subscribers?
No, Micro.one is designed for people new to the Micro.blog platform. If you already have a Micro.blog subscription, we hope you keep it! You’ll be able to take advantage of the aspects that are unique to Micro.blog, such as integration with Threads and Bluesky.
Can I upgrade from Micro.one to a full Micro.blog subscription?
Yes, click on the Plans page to change your subscription.
Can I use existing native apps with Micro.one, like the official Micro.blog mobile apps, third-party apps, or writing apps that support Micro.blog such as MarsEdit, Ulysses, and iA Writer?
Yes, the Micro.blog API is available in Micro.one as well, so all existing apps will work.
Micro.one seems like a ridiculous good deal at $1/month. Is this sustainable for the Micro.blog team?
We think it is an exceptional value. It is a little experimental which is why it is available to a limited number of subscribers.
Can I gift someone a subscription to Micro.one?
Yes, if you have a subscription to Micro.blog, you can invite someone on this page. There’s an option there to also pay for a full year of blog hosting for the person you’ve invited.
