I keep seeing this at the top of my micro.blog home page and just see the same in the logs when I click on it. Is there anywhere I can see more information or should I just ignore it? It seems like a completely un-actionable message…
Yep, all the time… cc @manton
Is cross-posting to Mastodon working? It sounds like the authentication with Mastodon has failed. You could try disabling cross-posting to Mastodon and enable it again. There is also a setting there if you don’t want Micro.blog to get replies from Mastodon (“Only copy your posts to Mastodon”).
If this error is common, we can prevent it from showing up on the home page so that it’s not so annoying.
This has been a permanent fixture in my micro.blog header:

But the log just shows the same message, so until I found this thread I wasn’t sure what the impact was or what I was supposed to do about it.
It sounds like the recommendations to fix it are:
- Disable cross-posting to Mastodon and enable it again
- Enable the “Only copy your posts to Mastodon” setting
And it sounds like the impact is minimal, based on your offer to simply hide it?
Sorry this is happening. Yeah, minimal impact. It basically means that Micro.blog can’t get any replies to you from Mastodon. When Micro.blog copies your posts to Mastodon, it also tries to get any replies so that you can see them within Micro.blog.
You can also click “View logs” and then “Clear Errors” to get rid of the error until it pops up again, although that might be soon in this case.
If this keeps happening after disabling/re-enabling cross-posting to Mastodon, let us know. Something else must be wrong, maybe something we can fix.
