I have a very bad habit of shoving my foot in my mouth.\n\nLong story now short, I'm on the hot seat for something stupid I did in our company's social network back in July. Had an interview with a corporate compliance investigator Friday morning.\n\nThe company I work for uses Microsoft's Viva Engage as an internal \"Facebook\" of sorts with all kinds of interest groups, including a \"Cool/Weird/Funny\" group, which includes what it says—cool, wierd, funny material. I made the HUGE mistake of sharing a Laugh Factory skit by The Chocolate Sundaes (a black comedy troupe) in which the \"N\" word is extensively used in the context of a comedy skit in which a white guy, since he himself can't use the word, has hired a black guy to say it for him when confronted by another black person who is asking for his money. (the full skit is https://youtu.be/IcBCy5SYEps?si=PQSKqQSCWgfernme; I only link to it for historical accuracy).\n\nI thought it was funny. The few black people I knew who also saw it thought it was hilarious. But posting it in the \"Cool/Wierd/Funny\" community was a violation of the company's Code of Conduct concerning racial harassment, and the community admin, after a probably deserved excoriating of my mental state, reported it as did a few others. I did take it immediately down and posted an open apology when I realized it was considered offensive, but that is of no consequence for those who complained.\n\nI'm now awaiting potential discipline, which could be anything from counseling to immediate termination after 14 years of otherwise spotless employment with the company.",
