Is cross-posting to Threads broken?

I’m currently messing about with cross-posting to see how close Threads and Bluesky are to behaving nicely in the Fediverse (yeah, right…).

I cross posted to Bluesky fine, but when I attempt Threads it just returns this json:

{"error_message":"User with Inactive Threads Profile: The user does not have an active Threads profile. The user needs to sign up for Threads in order to access this API.","error_code":4279001}

even before I get to identify myself :thinking:

Edit: Saw this but seems unlikely it’s related given I have never connected.
