Hello all,
I’m uploading an audio file a day at the moment, so I can edit the transcript, and in the last few days, in the uploaded file’s name, an extra dot has been added before the file extension. I’ll upload ‘filename.mp3’, but in Uploads it will appear as ‘filename..mp3’.
The double-dots carry over to the Audio Source HTML, but I don’t think they affect the functioning of the file. It still plays, I think, when I add it to a post.
The double dots don’t show up in every file, though. So I get …
johnarthurnichol.com/uploads/2026/sascha-martins-ripping-news-episode-12-sascha-martins-great-ungoo-part-two..mp3
johnarthurnichol.com/uploads/2026/sascha-martins-ripping-news-episode-11-sascha-martins-great-ungoo-part-one..mp3
but
johnarthurnichol.com/uploads/2026/sascha-martins-ripping-news-episode-10-sascha-martins-pitchy-witch-part-six.mp3
(and a run of files with just one dot before the extension)
then suddenly
johnarthurnichol.com/uploads/2026/sascha-martins-ripping-news-episode-6-sascha-martins-pitchy-witch-part-two..mp3
johnarthurnichol.com/uploads/2026/sascha-martins-ripping-news-episode-5-sascha-martins-pitchy-witch-part-one..mp3
I don’t know what micro.blog does between the upload and listing the file in Uploads, but maybe there’s an obscure or intermittent glitch in there? Not critical (I think) but not ideal.
Thanks,
John
