Images not cross posted to Bluesky

I’ve noticed for some time that images in my posts are not making it through to Bluesky.

Example post on my blog (that appears correctly in the Micro.blog timeline and Mastodon timeline): Schmidt’s Sausage House, Columbus, OH.

However, on Bluesky only the text is visible and not the image: @doug.pub on Bluesky

There’s also no link back to the post on my blog.

I also have noticed this! I honestly thought that cross-posting pictures wasn’t supported because I don’t recall seeing it work for me.

Do you have a new blog post example that isn’t working? I posted a photo yesterday and it went to Bluesky without any problems, so I don’t think it’s a widespread issue at least.

Hi Manton,

Here’s one from today.

Blog post:

Bluesky:

Do you think it’s possible it’s related to my custom domain and using that as my Bluesky account name? That’s the only thing I can think of that might be atypical about my setup.

This was happening to me for a while. It happened when I was using a category feed to cross post. For example, I had a category called “cross-post” and I used only that category’s feed to cross post to both the Micro.blog feed and mastodon/bluesky.

What fixed it was switching to the .json feed instead of xml. Maybe not your issue, but throwing it out there just in case.

It looks like switching to the .json feed for my micro.blog feed worked!! Thank you so much for the suggestion!

While things seem to be working well now w/ BlueSky, in the process of testing this, I did find an error in the logs:

Feed: Cross-posting exception: 49368682, /home/manton/snippets/models/item.rb:1174:in `>', comparison of DateTime with nil failed, ArgumentError

I just fixed this error but the change isn’t live yet. However, it should only happen the first time you set up your feed on the Sources page. After that, should work!
