How to Change the Permalink of Micro.blog Posts Page?

Hi,

Can anyone please help me out changing the permalink of micro.blog posts pages?

You’re going to have to provide much more detail.

Hi @jsonbecker,

Once we publish a post on micro.blog, the platform automatically generates the URL for that post based on the first three words of the posts.

Take this page for example: Google may use OG Title for Title in Search Result

Its URL automatically generated by taking the first three words from the post title (the same happens when we do publish the post without any title).

So, is there a way to change the URL of these pages manually. This will greatly help in SEO.

Thanks in Advance!

No, there is no way to create a custom slug for a blog post. You can generate a custom redirect URL, but doing that per post would be tedious and probably not scale.

We’re still planning to add custom URLs at some point, similar to how we have custom URLs for standalone pages. Anything in particular you want to see? For example, changing the 3 words of 5 words, or “/” at the end instead of “.html”, etc.

as you are asking here’s my wishlist: :slightly_smiling_face:

  • I’d like to change the 3 words to 5 words as a default, be able to use URLs ending like https://www.alpower.com/blog/my-news-feed-reader-setup/
  • create posts without the .html suffix (so I guess generating a post in a folder named the URL slug in Hugo? - would this be a site level change?)
  • Potentially customise the post part of the URL if we wanted to change it after automatic creation of the default, as there are some cases where the default post title doesn’t work well as a URL.

I know you handle markdown file import and a level of URL redirects automatically when moving blogs over to micro.blog, but I think custom URLs for posts as well as pages would go a long way in reassuring users that they could move things over and tweak URLs without the need for getting help involved!

Thanks!

Hi @manton,

Thank you so much for asking our suggestions.

If possible, please bring a dedicated plugin for doing On Page SEO of different types of micro.blog pages.

Just like some popular CMS (WordPress, Shopify) have Yoast.

It will not just benefit, our micro blogs but to the whole micro.blog users community on the search engine.

You can refer to Schema.org for more information about different types of Schema available.

Sorry to say, but after creating the micro blog, I found no plugin or feature to add schema markup in the pages, so I write it and added it (the blogposting schema markup) using templates. However, not all micro.blog users are tech savy. So, these features must be accessible to everyone.

Infact, Medium.com has also added schema markup in their article which results in organic growth.

You can refer to Yoast SEO Plugin for Wordpress features for SEO features inspiration for micro.blog.

Hope, we will see some amazing features in the platform.

Thanks!

Most important to me is simply the raw ability to customize slugs. Automatically setting the page name of a post to its first several words, whether it’s three or five or seven, is too often non-semantic.
