Currently my mastodon username is set as jezebelley@micro.blog but id like to change it to my custom domain jezebelley@thefrequency.blog. How do I go about doing this? Do I have to hit “reset” and lose all my current followers? Thank you!
Yes, unfortunately you have to hit reset. That essentially “deletes” your old fediverse profile and creates a new one using your domain name.
If you need to preserve followers, the only way I can think of doing that right now would be to migrate to a Mastodon account, reset things on Micro.blog, and then migrate back to the new Micro.blog account. And allow enough time in between the steps for all the followers to move over.
I’d love to make this more seamless in the future. I think it would involve maintaining two fediverse profiles for Micro.blog so that it’s possible to migrate between them.
