Hey folks, I have tried to export from one Micro.blog using a variety of methods (Wordpress XML and Markdown) and then importing the resulting zip file into a new Micro.blog. I don’t even care about the theme. Essentially, I just want the content (maintaining dates, timestamps, but updating URLs, etc) into the new blog. Doesn’t seem to be working. Any ideas?
The best methods for exporting content between two blogs right now:
- Export as Blog Archive (.bar) and then use the Mac app to import the .bar file again. Requires macOS, though.
- Export as WordPress (.xml) and import as WordPress on the web.
What seems to be happening when you try WordPress? I’d expect that to work… Do posts not appear, or some other problem?
Thanks Manton. I ended up pointing my new custom domain to my current blog and that had the intended effect. So I think we’re good.
What I did originally was export as markdown/html. And then when I imported, maybe a few of the first posts made it, then there were various errors like “invalid date”, etc. I think when I tried importing from a Wordpress export, nothing was able to come in.
