I like embedded media in my posts, so I use shortcodes for youtube.
But I also noticed they don’t crosspost to mastodon very well (the video is missing/no link).
Is there something I’m missing, or just a limitation of how this works?
Embeds don’t work on virtually any timeline (including micro.blog’s) because it … embeds… html.
Open graph unfurling is basically a response to reduce embed use on social feeds. I don’t expect them to ever work.
I personally include a link on all YouTube embed posts as well for this reason.
