Cross-posting options

Hello! I have had a hunt and a search for this with no joy.

Is it possible to set cross posting options so that, in my case, when I write a post, the whole thing is posted to LinkedIn (with the link) rather than just the title?

The title and the link is great for Bluesky, but for linkedin, I’d just like people to be able to read and interact with it there.

Ta!

Hi Harry,

First, as far as I know, I don’t think that’s possible atm. Medium cross-posts contain the full text (I think?), but for Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky and LinkedIn, it’s just the link and perhaps some short description if the blog post has meta tags set properly for that. Others can correct me on that if I’m mistaken

Second, pretty neat timing with this one, I had a similar thing (feature request, I guess) in mind. I’d love to be able to cross-post full post in “threads”. For instance, if post has four 300 character paragraphs, each of those would be post in a single thread.

Croissant app (https://croissantapp.com/) does something like this pretty eloquently. I use the app for cross-posting to multiple social media accounts all at once (from time to time). That said, I’d prefer using micro.blog for this, because most of the time, I also want to have that particular post appear on my blog.

Ping pong to @manton et all, maybe something for future consideration (unless something like that is already in the works!).

Cheers!

I posted this very thing as a feature request!

For now I just do it manually, with help from Buffer.

I can imagine wanting something like that too. But the LinkedIn thing feels like a different usecase to me - like Medium, its quite normal to post long-form text there. So posting something like a tweet feels a bit odd.

FWIW, I’m on a hometown fork of Mastodon that allows long-form posts, so being able to cross-post longer text contents to Mastodon would be pretty sweet. And I agree re: LinkedIn, it feels appropriate to post long-form content there as one would on Medium. @juha could you point me to the right documentation for the meta tags to allow a short description?

As micro.blog themes are using Hugo in the background, most of the themes probably already utilize those meta tags. If not, these would be helpful for examples:

Oh! And then there’s these plugins in the micro.blog plug-in directory that could be used too:

Hope these help!

Thanks so much, lots for me to learn here!
