Crashing bug in macOS app

I’ve found a crashing bug in the macOS app that happens every time I try to enter the tag. I get the spinning beach ball. I let it run like that for about 10 minutes and it wouldn’t let go. I tried it a few times a few different ways after force quitting, but it keeps crashing as soon as I enter the second dash in the line. I completed the post in the web editor. I have not yet tried this in a new file, but I will. Just wanted to get this out before I got distracted.

Thanks @manton!

@manton Ping.

Sorry about the crash! I haven’t been able to reproduce this yet. Do you have a text replacement in System Settings for “–”? I thought that might be interfering but I tried adding one and that didn’t crash either.

If anyone else sees this, let me know.

I am not using a text replacement utility. I’ll see if I can’t replicate it myself and update you. Thanks! UPDATE: I should have also noted that I do not have any text replacements set up in the system. That would be helpful to note :slight_smile:

Thanks for the info. I think if I can reproduce this, it will be a simple fix. Seems like a parsing bug for our Markdown support somewhere. But so far, I can’t make it happen.

For longer posts, save a draft often! :slightly_smiling_face:

Excellent advice for anyone, and I do save often, but this happened after I’d just finished final editing and the more tag was the last item before posting LOLZ. Just my luck! Fortunately, I was able to take a screenshot of it and extract the text with the few edits I’d made and added the more tag via the web editor.

I’ll keep trying. See if I can’t make it happen again.
