Hiya. Uploading a sound file seems to be broken. It’s an MP3 file about 84 megs. On the Uploads page I choose it, the progress bar finishes its thing and then nothing. Refreshing doesn’t reveal the file. I’ve tried about four times, all with no joy.
I’m working on a little bit of a deadline, would love the file to be available when we drop a new episode tomorrow morning.

Sorry about that. You are hitting the upload file size limit of 75 MB. You could compress the file a bit more, convert it to mono if it is currently stereo, or trim it to make it shorter.
There should probably be a more helpful error message when this happens. Something for @manton to consider.
What is the duration of the MP3? 84 MB seems pretty large for an audio file. If you can save it with a slightly lower bitrate, that would be ideal. We’re not planning on increasing the file size soon. Before we did that, I’d want to add a feature that automatically compresses it for you before upload.
Hi manton and sod—thanks for the responses! The episode is 55 minutes long. Not sure how to compress, I just use what my editor gives me.

I think it will be easier to link to our Buzzsprout account for post consistency. Or maybe pull a small teaser from the episode and post that.

IMO - 75MB can be a tight limit depending on the type of podcast and length of the show. I used to run a weekly, 2 hour show that was all music. On average the MP3 and OGG versions were around 150MB (and I won’t even mention the size of the FLAC version).
But I recognize this isn’t the use case you had in mind for this feature, and think it’s fine to suggest hosting the media for such a podcast elsewhere. (I used to pay for block storage for my show, then later archived it on The Internet Archive.)
But, my point here is that it’s not always acceptible to decrease the bitrate or bounce a show down to mono.
