I uploaded an .mp4 video file via the macOS app and the file was uploaded as an .mov which is less compatible a container format and so it would not play in a number of places. Uploaded via web interface file separately stayed as mp4 and I edited the original html in the first post to new file which resolved the playback issues.
macOS app should not change container format.
