Is there a way to get link previews to appear on Bluesky for Micro.blog cross-posts sent there that include URLs? If I write a post on Micro.blog that’s something like “post text https://www.url.com” there will be a link preview in the resulting Threads and Mastodon version, but Bluesky will only show the URL, without the thumbnail, title, etc.

There’s no way right now. Bluesky’s API handles link previews a little differently. We will need to add a preference for this within Micro.blog to control whether you want link previews or not. I plan to investigate this soon.

Terrific! The lack of link previews is the only thing holding me back from basically using Micro.blog exclusively for social media posting. I’m glad to hear it’s being explored. Thank you!

definitely would love to see this! Glad to see it seems doable and not limited by Bluesky.
There’s an error in the implementation. If you have link previews enabled, micro.blog is no longer sending the image in your post.

Thanks, this must be a Bluesky limitation, because even in the Bluesky web interface you can’t use both a link preview and photo at the same time.
I’m going to change Micro.blog to not use link previews when there’s a photo. I’ll have that change ready today.

Edit to add. Would like to keep the link intact as it has worked before with photos.
I’ve updated this so it works like it used to when there is a photo in the post. When link previews are enabled, it only tries to embed the preview card if there is no photo.
Hi @Manton. I just had this issue with a video. I am not sure if Micro.blog supports cross-posting videos to Bluesky. But it was a post with a video and a link. It published on Bluesky as a link post with no video.
We don’t upload videos yet. I’m looking into that. Did the Bluesky post include a link back to your blog post?
