Bluesky can use your own domain name for your handle on Bluesky. By default, this is something like @yourname.bsky.social
, but it can also be just @yourblog.com
. Using your own domain name is a great way to have more control over your identity online.
Micro.blog will automatically enable your blog domain name to be used as your Bluesky handle.
If your blog on Micro.blog is @yourblog.com
, click Micro.blog → Sources → “Add Bluesky” to enable cross-posting. This will also create a special identifier file that tells Bluesky that you want to connect your blog to your Bluesky account.
To summarize the steps:
- Make sure you’re using a custom domain name in Micro.blog. You can set this on the Design page.
- Enable cross-posting to Bluesky on the Sources page.
- Back in Bluesky, click on Settings → “Change Handle”, then “I have my own domain”.
- Enter the domain name you’re using in Micro.blog. Select “No DNS Panel” because Micro.blog has configured it for you already.
Note that if you’re using a subdomain for your blog like micro.yourdomain.com
, Micro.blog won’t be able to automatically configure your root domain. In that case, you’ll need to follow the Bluesky instructions.
