Blog post from 2015 has disappeared

One of my favorite posts has gone missing on microblog. i am reporting the specifics of the post, what I did to investigate the problem, and ask if there’s a way to restore ir or should i re-post it. And how did it go missing in the first place?

Post title: Documentaries: “Dreams of a Life”, “Finding Vivian Maier”

  1. I used Marsedit to update the post recently. It still shows up in marsedit as a published post.
  2. In marsedit, click View on Web, and it should display https://brownstudy.info/2015/03/05/documentaries-dreams-of.html but it does not. I moved the post to Local Drafts so I could keep a copy of it.
  3. The post does not show up on micro.blog in the list of archived posts sorted by date
  4. On microblog, search for ‘vincent’ in the Search box, and nothing shows up (the post is the only post where ‘vincent’ shows up)
  5. when i do a google site search on ‘vincent’, the post does not appear
  6. when i go to the microblog post editor on the web ( Micro.blog ) and search for ‘vincent’, the post does not appear.
  7. went to Micro.blog and hit the ‘rebuild’ button…
  8. went back to original post url and the result is ‘not found’

What should I do? How can I republish the post in Marsedit? This is making me wonder what other posts might have gone poof.

I’m glad you have a copy in MarsEdit. I did a quick check on Micro.blog and I don’t see the post. The only thing I can think of is that it’s set on a different blog or account, maybe. If you post it again from MarsEdit, does that do anything?

I had to delete the post in Marsedit and re-create it as a new post. It seems to have worked. But I still could not tell you why my blog ate that post.

On a separate track: I am baffled by the Mythos theme’s treatments of links. When I look at a link in the post, I see a line struck through it with a broken link icon by it. But when I click on the link (to Wikipedia in the case of this screenshot), the link works fine. Should I just change themes?

Do you have the “Wayback Link Preserver” plug-in installed? Your screenshot looks like something it would add… Mythos shouldn’t look like that by default!

Thank for the quick reply! Yes, I do have the Wayback plug-in for new links installed. That’s kind of annoying. I’ll try another theme and see if it happens there.

Switched to the Scribe theme and those annoying strikethroughs from the Wayback plug-in went away.
