Any Chance micro.blog Could Save Text As We Type

A number of web apps, like gmail, will save text such that if I accidentally go back in my browser history while I’m writing my text is saved for me in the text entry box. If micro.blog could do the same thing, you’d be a life saver for me.

I’ve switched keyboards recently, so I’m stinging myself by sometimes unintentionally switching away from the new post page by accidentally heading backwards in my history, then when I head forwards my blog post isn’t buffered in the page. It’s inarguably my fault, but I’m hoping you can save me from myself.

This has come up in the past here on the forums, and I think @manton agrees that it’s a good idea.

I added support for auto-save in Lillihub recently (it’s an unofficial third party web client for micro.blog). It saves the post periodically (every minute or so) to your browser’s local storage.

And Lillihub is just awesome overall, well worth checking out! :frog:

I’d still like to add this soon. I actually was experimenting with it last week. One question I had: should it auto-save to an actual draft blog post, or should it only restore the “new post” text form?

In the iOS app, we auto-save so if you come back and tap the new post button again, you see your latest text. I think this is what Lillihub does too. As I type this out, it seems clear that that’s the way to go, but happy to hear other feedback.
