Just a bit of feedback from a fresh pair of eyes, I doubt it’s high priority but just something that could be made a bit clearer
According to the signup page, as a new user I’m on a 7 day free trial. But, and this is kind of embarrassing, I have no idea what I have a free trial of.
I’ve not been able to find any way to edit theme files, which seems to be an option lots of other people have. According to the pricing page, custom themes are a feature of the $5 plan, so I thought maybe I just have a trial of micro.one.
But then I also seem to have the automatic cross-posting feature*, which is also supposed to only be on the $5 plan. So that’s quite confusing!
There’s no indication of which plan I’m currently trialing on the plans page, and I couldn’t see any mention in the welcome emails either. This seems like relatively low hanging fruit to clear up for future new users?
(As a slightly separate issue, the pricing page seems to be the only place to see what’s available to who, as help articles tend not to mention a minimum plan level for the feature they talk about.)
* Note I’ve not actually tried to use this because it’s not a feature I want, but I do at least have access to all the config for it.
Great feedback, something for @manton to consider.
I know that Micro.one doesn’t come with a free trial, so you’re on the $5/month plan or above. To edit (or rather, override) templates, you need to set up a Custom Theme from the Design page, and then there should be an Open Theme button there. Don’t you see the Custom Theme option on the Design page at all?
Not that I can see, although maybe it’s just moved and I’m being oblivious. It should be somewhere near the “Edit CSS” and “Edit Recommendations” buttons, if I’ve understood correctly? Trying to piece things together from random screenshots I’ve seen people post!
No, I don’t think this is on you. The fact that you see Edit CSS (and not Custom Theme) is odd because that’s a button that should only show up for Micro.one subscribers.
It feels like you’re on some kind of hybrid subscription. Or it could be that Custom Themes aren’t allowed during the trial period for one reason or another.
Is this intentional, @manton, or could there be a bug here?
Most likely I’ll just end up upgrading to the $5 plan for proper testing and hopefully get out of this weird limbo. But if it is intentional it could definitely do with being documented somewhere.
