This may not be a bug, if so please consider it a request. When I create a post using the Mac app I always have to go to the View menubar drop down and select the Title field. All of the other pieces (e.g. categories, crossposting) persist through restarts of the app but that one.
It’s intentional, but I know it annoys a lot of people too. I’ve resisted having it remember whether to show the title field because I think most people are writing short posts, and if the title field is always there, it adds some friction. (“Do I need to give this a title? Do I need to expand this thing into a long-form post?”)
For now, the work-around I recommend is to add a keyboard shortcut for showing the title field quickly. You can do this in the Mac’s System Settings. Keyboard → App Shortcuts. For example, wire it up to command-T or something similar. Then you can do command-N, command-T and be ready to go.

Ah that makes sense. My usage is more akin to an old-school blog post, which is why I like that field. Maybe I should reevaluate how I am using micro.blog. I still post random thoughts directly to Bluesky and Mastodon and use Micro blog for deeper thoughts.
