I am experiencing a bug where the cursor is jumping around the editor when writing a post in the iOS app.
I had two paragraphs written. I moved the cursor to the end of the first paragraph and began deleting text with my finger held on the delete button.
At a certain point before reaching the beginning of the line the cursor jumped to the end of the second paragraph and began rapidly deleted that instead.
This has happened a few times recently.
I can see others mentioning similar problems (which I have experienced too) with the web editor and I am having problems with the app.
I find Micro.blog posts are best written elsewhere (Drafts for example) and copied into the editor, to avoid these issues.
I love Micro.blog a lot but I’m sorry to say the writing experience is sometimes poor in my opinion. It’s fine for quickly posting something short, but for editing it’s chaotic. I remember when I rejoined about a year ago it was much more reliable. This is a core feature that needs to be 100%.
Sorry about that. The iOS editor hasn’t changed in a year, so it shouldn’t be worse! The plan is to merge the new web editor into the iOS app as soon as we’re confident all the bugs have been fixed.
Are you using an iPhone or iPad when this happens?
Thank you, I did some more testing with this recently and can confirm what you’re seeing. I hit it just yesterday when writing a longer draft so pretty sure I will be able to reproduce it from now on.
My plan was to completely replace the editor but I now think that is going to take too long, and risks introducing other problems. I’m going to do an iOS update that addresses these specific editing problems only.
Hi @manton I’m still experiencing a bouncy cursor in the iOS app. I was deleting text in the middle of a post and the cursor jumped to the end of the post.
We should have a new beta soon, likely today. If you want to try it before it’s ready for the App Store release, make sure you’re on the TestFlight beta here:
