I host photos on Flickr and when I post to Micro.blog, I just add the Flickr JPEG URL and post, without uploading the image to Micro.blog. When it cross-posts to BlueSky (and Mastodon), there is an embedded image.

Curious, does Mb download the Flickr image and uploads it as a blob before embedding it to a BlueSky post?

Yes, exactly. Micro.blog downloads the Flickr image and then uploads it to Bluesky. That way it’s not dependent on the original Flickr image URL.
